Health is a human right. Yet for many disabled people across Europe, accessing healthcare is still far from equal. The numbers speak for themselves. Too many disabled people continue to face barriers that lead to unmet healthcare needs, poorer health outcomes, and unequal access to services. These inequalities are not inevitable. They can be reduced when healthcare systems become more accessible, more inclusive, and more responsive to people’s needs.Through the RomInDis project, we are working to support healthcare professionals and Roma Health Mediators in creating healthcare services that are accessible, respectful, and equitable for Roma people with mobility impairments.Every step towards accessible healthcare is a step towards a more inclusive society.Source of data: Eurostat See MoreSee Less

The RomInDis Project – Enhancing support for Roma people with physical disabilities to access health services and benefits is a European initiative dedicated to improving access to health services for Roma people with physical disabilities. The project addresses one of the least visible forms of social exclusion in Europe: the situation of Roma people who simultaneously face social marginalization, ethnic discrimination, and barriers associated with disability. These individuals face major difficulties in accessing medical services, social benefits, and mechanisms for the protection of their rights, often remaining invisible to public policies. RomInDis aims to help reduce these inequalities by developing educational tools, training programs, and public policy recommendations that support collaboration between Roma health mediators and healthcare professionals. The project is based on the principle that disability is not merely the result of individual limitations, but primarily of social, institutional, and cultural barriers that hinder the equal participation of people with disabilities in society. The project, with identification number KA220-ADU-76364734, is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, under Action KA220-ADU – Cooperation Partnerships in Adult Education, which supports the development of European partnerships for innovation, the exchange of best practices, and the strengthening of professional competencies in the field of adult education. For more information, visit the official website: www.romindis.eu See MoreSee Less
